Time Mashup

I was having a look at the Mashup control Microsoft developed for the Obama inauguration this week (View). They have been able to re-create the virtual environment of the historical day of the 20th of January 2009 with their PhotoSynth technology. While navigating into some of the environments, I realized that some of the pictures weren’t matching in time, which causes a bit of confusion.

Microsoft has already added the Geotagging dimension to their product, which is great. This means that at some point we may end-up having entire cities reproduced and navigable online. However, I think it would be very interesting to see a time dimension being added to this product. Just think about it. Being able to navigate a certain location and view it at a specific time in the past.

Just thought I’d drop the idea on the table.
